For this wedding, I hot-footed it up to Suffolk to the amazing Wilderness Reserve, and to the Sibton Estate for a stunning wedding in the orangery.
The plan was initially to have an outdoor ceremony, but with such changeable weather and thundery downpours forecast, it was just too risky, and so plan B was put into place, and the beautiful orangery was set with the flowers, which popped against the black and white marble floor. It was perfection.
When I arrived, I met the florist's team, the AV team, and the videographer (the lovely Ollie, whom I have worked with a few times previously). There was a buzz about the venue, and then I met with Louise and her team from Louise Perry Weddings, a super organised group of experts that I have had the pleasure of working with many times now.
The reception space was set outside in a stretch tent and had the most magnificent tablescapes, with blue cloths, black chairs, and colour pops of red and pinks in the floral displays. It looked breathtaking!
Everything was set, and we welcomed guests into the space. After a short delay, we announced the groom and his parents, then the bridesmaids, and finally the bride and her parents, each too different songs played beautifully by the string quintet Chiqas.
Everyone looked incredible, and the bride was out of this World stunning! She looked so happy, which made her even more radiant, and her groom was so emotional to see her at the top of the aisle. As she approached the stage, we got everyone seated, and the couple stepped up and turned around to face everyone.
We had the most wonderful ceremony, with words written all about the couple, guests involved, their love story told, and two brilliant readings.
"What they have translates to any place and any situation, and they have the most wonderful connection.
I love that they have things in place (their ‘non-negotiables) that help to keep things on track, and it means they check in with each other and the relationship to make sure they both have what they need.
It is inspiring, and I’m sure it strengthens what they have even more."
The couple had written secret vows to one another, so after repeating some promises after me, they shared their very own words, and it was just lovely to have a front row seat to this special moment.
We then invited the best man, Jayke, up to the stage with the rings, and he brought extra warmth and humour to this part of the ceremony, and we spoke about how the bride's father had made the wedding rings, and how the stones used in the engagement ring were the bride's beloved grandma's.
The whole ceremony was so personal, so heartfelt, and had both funny and tender moments, it was a rollercoaster of emotions.
The couple signed a wedding day certificate with the help of two witnesses and were then ready to be presented to their guests.
As I concluded with a recap of what we had witnessed, the couple headed back down through the orangery to the rapturous applause and cheers from their loved ones.
Everyone headed outside for the confetti throw in front of the house, and the photographer and videographer then got some incredible shots of the guests all together before family and group photos began.
It was the most perfect start to their wedding day, and I was privileged to have been a small part of it.
Congratulations to Gemma and Scott, and may you have a future filled with love, laughter, and happiness.
