Wow. This afternoon saw Knight Ceremonies back at the gorgeous Gildings Barn and I must say, I love seeing how differently each couple decorates the barn and all of their personal touches.
My bride and groom today love to travel and so this theme ran through each area of their detailing. From a suitcase on display to hold their cards, to small globes hanging from the trees outside, and not forgetting a huge signpost with all of the places that they have visited.
The show stopper for me was the handmade "chandelier" which was an original cart wheel, decorated with ivy and carnations and hung from the rafters of the barn. Spectacular. Their team of helpers did them proud and the venue looked amazing.
Their ceremony was extremely personal, and based on a relationship that I had built with the couple since we first met. We had details about their travels, their proposal, and some truly wonderful readings with a mix of emotion and humour. The last of which even had me welling up! Ever the professional, I carried on, and we moved into a part of the ceremony that for many was not something that they were familiar with. It was a Sri Lankan lamp lighting ceremony which honoured the bride's family heritage. The couple lit the first of seven flower candles, and key guests joined them to symbolise the merging of families and the union created today.
It was an absolute privilege to tell this couple's story and to be part of such a fabulous day. I was presented with some flowers prior to the ceremony as a thank you, and was flooded with compliments after the ceremony, both unexpected, but wonderful to receive. A guest from America said he had been at many weddings led by different officiants and I was the best that he had seen. . .quite an overwhelming compliment indeed!
Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Lovatt, and good luck for your forthcoming adventures in Vietnam!
What a truly great couple.
