A Gothic Romance at Le Gothique: Sarah & Edmund’s Wedding November 2025

A beautiful blog from my team member Laura. . .

"Le Gothique is a little-known but large, Gothic-style building in Wandsworth. It was the location for Sarah and Edmund’s wedding, on an unusually sunny November day. The building is full of history and a good dose of drama too! The ceremony happened in the Grand Hall, a big room lit by candles and adorned with historical features. There were flower petals on the floor and flower arrangements that made the hall look softer and more romantic.

Sarah’s family travelled from Germany, and the ceremony was kept simple so everyone could understand and take part.  Guests sat down and found a newspaper made by the couple, describing how they met and their story together. It was a personal detail that made people smile before the ceremony started.

Aymee Weir sang and played music as Edmund, with his mother on his arm, walked in followed by his groomsmen. Edmund proudly wore a kilt to honour his Scottish background. The bridesmaids walked next, followed by the sound of bagpipes announcing the Bride, Sarah, with her father’s, arrival. She wore a stunning princess-style dress and looked radiant!

Edmund’s sister, Charlotte, read a medieval poem called “By Weald or Woe,” which fit the Gothic style of the hall perfectly. The couple then did a handfasting ceremony, tying tartan ribbons from Edmund’s Scottish family and Sarah’s German heritage, to show they were joining their lives and cultures together.

The most emotional moment was when Edmund spoke his wedding vows in German, which surprised Sarah and her family and made them cry. It was a beautiful gesture of love for Sarah and respect for her family.

The couples’ rings were brought to the front by her brother and his best man, and after they had exchanged them, I had the honour of presenting the couple to their guests.

As the newlyweds walked back down the aisle, they were met with more confetti than I’ve literally ever seen in one space - a joyful storm of white that filled the entire Grand Hall and left a carpet of white on the floor!

Afterwards, guests gathered to share an array of traditional German cakes, a warm nod to Sarah’s heritage and a perfect sweet start to the afternoon celebrations. They had printed some fun cake napkins and managed to include their beloved cat this way on their wedding day!

The day was so warm that guests were able to spread into the garden to enjoy some afternoon sunshine whilst Aymee played again, and the couple had photos taken.

Sarah and Edmund, it was such a joy and privilege to stand with you as you made your promises to one another. Your ceremony reflected everything that matters most - love, laughter, family, and heritage. Thank you for trusting me to tell your story and to hold the space for such a meaningful moment in your lives.

I wish you a lifetime filled with the same warmth, courage, and delight you brought to your wedding day.
