My couple had such a lovely connection, it was just wonderful to chat to them and to hear about their wedding day plans, and to help them by creating warmth and reassurance around their ceremony.
When I arrived on the day, it was sunny, with blue skies, and with a lovely buzz about the setting. The venue staff were lovely, the singer was with me, and we were setting up in the ceremony space together, ensuring that everything was ready for the start of the couple's day.
As guests began arriving, I'd been up to check in with the wedding party, and there was a real sense of excitement as they were all putting the finishing touches to their hair and makeup. The bride looked absolutely beautiful, and was having some time with her MUA, and I met with the lovely photographer and ran through the sequence of the ceremony. I met the bride's lovely dad, and he was looking ever so proud and excited, and a teeny bit nervous, but I reassured him that I would guide him through it all.
I then made my final amends to the checklist and ceremony details, based on conversations with the wedding party, and I was ready to convey it all to the groom and his best man.
Next, it was time to chat to the groom, the best man, and to run through what was about to happen. They all looked super smart in their tuxedos and were clearly excited about the day ahead. With guests all now in the bar area outside the ceremony room, we were given the nod that it was time to get everyone seated, and they soon filled the space with lots of smiles and excited chatter.
The bride's mum joined us all, an indication that they were now ready and would soon be entering. The groom's family was all seated and eagerly awaiting the bride's arrival, and the room had a great atmosphere. With the cue given that we were ready, everyone took to their feet and spun around to watch the procession. I gave the groom the nod to turn around to watch them all, and his face was full of joy. The flower girls and bridesmaids all entered, then came the bride's daughter, a vision in her gown, and then came Jodie, the bride, and her very proud dad, Steve.
She looked incredible, and I could see everyone clearly taken aback, as she looked radiant, and the groom, Ant, was delighted to be reunited with her at the front of the ceremony space. We began with a very warm welcome, acknowledgements of those present and those dear friends who were absent, and we spoke of what marriage means to the couple.
These two were blending a family together; they were making official the connection that they have and the bond that has strengthened over their time together, and it was a privilege to represent them and talk about their achievements.
We had two lovely readings, one from the groom's mum and one from the bride's daughter, and both were emotional and delivered with such great feeling. It was a real honour to be a part of this wedding and to witness the couple sharing their special words and cementing their promises with the exchange of wedding bands alongside their best man as ringbearer.
They signed their wedding day certificate with the help of their nearest and dearest, and then got back into position, ready to be reunited with their families during the drinks reception.
It was a wedding full of love, laughter, tender moments, and a real sense of family. As the couple went back up the aisle and the confetti cannons went off overhead, I felt so elated for them both and happy that they chose to celebrate this way by embracing a more personal ceremony experience.
I wish these two amazing people and their family the very best of love and luck for their future together.
Much love,
Jenny x
