Two Doctors Wed at the lovely Kimbridge Barn

My couple from Saturday were recommended to me by their friend Dan (a photographer that I have worked with a few times now) so it was lovely to know that they had some insight into what we could do for them.

After my initial chat, I could see just how much they had been through and how much this day meant to them.  Having the opportunity to celebrate their relationship, the next chapter in their lives was something that carried huge meaning and as I got to know them over the course of their planning I knew just how we could do this.

Both my bride and my groom are doctors, and time together is limited and very precious, so I tried to make sure we had as much organised ahead of time as possible, and checked off as much as we could at our venue visit.  Being in situ is always lovely, but for these two, seeing their faces as we talked through the logistical aspects, and putting them in the positions they would be stood in on their day, brought it all to life and it was obvious that the excitement was building.

On Saturday, I had a lovely drive down into deepest Hampshire, and arrived at the beautiful Kimbridge Barn with two hours to spare!  I enjoyed time just running through the script, chatting with their suppliers, and making adjustments to their seating to allow enough room for all that was about to happen.  It is such a fabulous venue and it was lovely to be back.

With everything in place and all of my chats completed, it was time to seat their guests.  As the barn filed with their loved ones, the atmosphere changed, and there was a buzz about the space.  As the bride was arriving directly into the entryway, I headed out to greet her and chat through all that was about to happen, soothing a few nerves and making sure everyone was ok.

As I returned to the ceremony space, the music faded down and I received the cue that we were ready to start.  With guests upstanding, the groom asked me to give him a prompt when the procession began, and he had peek around to watch the bridesmaids, but then faced the front to steady himself as his bride came into view.  I gave him the nod and he turned to see his special lady looking absolutely incredible.  The emotion on his face was a wonderful thing to witness, and as they were reunited at the front I was instantly glad that we had opted to have them stood next to one another so they could be close to one another and relax and enjoy their celebrations.

With everything underway, and the tone of the day set with guests laughing and joining in, it was clear that these two are held in very high regard, and every single person there was supporting them both.  We had two lovely readings, and shared details of the couple's story so far. We surprised both families and mums, and spoke of the times that make what they have so very special.

By the time we reached their vows and rings, their guests were a sea of smiling faces, and all ready to witness this very personal part of the day.

My couple were both brilliant throughout their ceremony, reading their vows beautifully, and exchanging love letters too.  We had a nod to the groom's love of Lord of the Rings during the exchange of wedding bands, and completed their ceremony with a handfasting.

As the best man and the bride's mum both helped with he binding and the knot tying, we held their hands aloft for all to see, and then as they celebrated with a kiss, they slipped out from their ties, and we wrapped the ends to secure the knot that had been made.

My bride and groom chose to sign a commemorative certificate with two members of the wedding party and as they prepared to walk back up the aisle, I brought everything to a wonderful crescendo and presented them back to their loved ones to rapturous applause!

It was a truly lovely start to what I am sure was a fabulous day for these two amazing people.

Congrats Rach & Rich, and I wish you both all the love and luck for your future.
